Scott Shapiro, of counsel, is a Chicago native, and began practicing law in 1997, with an emphasis on work related injuries, and personal injury matters. As founder of Law Offices of Scott B. Shapiro, P.C., Scott simultaneously became of counsel with the Sherwood Law Group, as lead attorney of Sherwood Law Group’s Workers’ Compensation division.
Prior to establishing his own law firm, Scott practiced insurance defense. He has appeared as a guest lecturer in the area of workers’ compensation law for a number of insurance companies, self-insured companies, as well as unions and other trade organizations on behalf of injured workers. Utilizing his extensive experience gained defending insurance companies and employers in the area of workers’ compensation, Scott applied this experience to focus his practice on representing injured workers’ and plaintiffs in work injury and personal injury cases.
Scott appreciates every client and every case is unique, and how his clients must understand the manner in which the law applies to the clients’ particular legal issues. To advance his clients’ understanding, Scott considers the cornerstones to successful injury representation are aggressive litigation of all matters relating to his injured clients; extensive knowledge of medical conditions in relation to his clients’ injuries; and maintaining open communication between the attorney and clients to educate and counsel his clients in every aspect of their particular case.
Because of his experience of over 20 years in the Workers’ Compensation industry, and willingness to fight for the rights of an injured worker, Scott has received multiple awards deeming injured workers’ permanently and totally disabled due to catastrophic work related injuries, including repetitive injuries, construction accidents, factory accidents, or cumulative trauma injuries. In addition to these hard fought trial awards he has obtained substantial six figure monetary settlements for catastrophic injuries such as amputations, spinal cord injuries resulting in paralysis, spinal fusion surgeries and vertebral fractures, and repetitive trauma injuries.
