Notable Cases and Outcomes in Texas

There have been several similar cases in the Roman Catholic Church in Texas. These incidents highlight the need for change and improvement in policies and protection for the vulnerable in the catholic dioceses.

Some of the notable cases in the Texas Dioceses are as follows

List of Archdiocese of Galveston Houston

Several clergy members in this Archdiocese have faced credible allegations of sexual misconduct against them. Many of the cases were those of abuse of a minor. Cases led to multiple settlements, stripping priests of their authority and convictions.

Abuse in Archdiocese of San Antonio

Federico Fernandez Baeza is one of the many accused priests of the San Antonio Diocese. Following credible allegations of child sex abuse, the San Antonio Diocese failed to take sufficient steps against the clergy member. Baeza was credibly accused of eight more incidents of abuse, leading to lawsuits that resulted in settlements for the survivors.

Cases of Dallas Diocese

Similar to the Archdiocese of San Antonio, several priests in the Dallas Diocese have been accused of sexual abuse. This includes cases of allegations against priests of the Diocese having sexually abused women and minors. Many of these priests lost their positions, pled guilty to the charges, and faced conviction.

There have been several other notable cases in Corpus Christi Diocese, Fort Worth Diocese, and El Paso Diocese. As more priests are accused of abuse, survivors continue to file for civil claims. There is a dire need for acknowledgment of this troubling issue and finding solutions to protect members of the Catholic church.

“Extremely impressed with this law firm. They took control of a bad motorcycle crash that left my uncle seriously injured. Without any guarantee of a financial recovery, they went out and hired accident investigators and engineers to help prove how the accident happened. I am grateful that they worked on a contingency fee basis as there was no way we could have paid for these services on our own.”

“Jonathan did a great job helping my family navigate through a lengthy lawsuit involving my grandmother’s death in a nursing home.
